Trelic tower's a wonderful sight. Made the decision to control it.
Audio Visualizer made in processing, the building lights up depending on the level of the audio.
Convergent media project, the idea was about remediation. Taking something and putting it into a different context to change the way it is perceived. In this case trellic tower, something we would normally have no control over even though we inhabit the space it exists in. By putting it in a live music context and through a system that controls how it looks based on music of our choice we wanted to achieve some form of control over such an iconic symbol of the urban environment we inhabit. We chose to use anaglyph techniques for purely aesthetic reasons; both the audience being more immersed in the visual and the visual effect it has on the band playing.
Influenced by, among others, JR and graffiti research lab.

They're quite graphic intensive so may not work on older machines.

We Heard that old tv sets hold lots of interesting things to play with... so we broke in...
Group project for experimental film & video. Influenced by the work of Nam june Paik. Exploring the idea of old mediums being more penetrable than of those more recent. I hate how I can't break into my ipod touch and faff about with it but it wasn't very hard to mashup the circuits in this old tv, or physically slice in half a song (via vinyl). The concept was too display a certain anger toward contemporary mediums, how the user has less control... his control or decisions are being made for him. We didn't feel too comfortable with this, "your the machine I'm the user...I want to be in control". The tv depicts the sound (in this case of two different sliced up records merged together).
Rewired, old CRT monitor to depict sound rather than image, the result was a sound visualizer, the sound created the image.

First attempt at circuit bending... went pretty well.

Music Video
Had a genuine passion for this band a while ago (shame about the new album) - something about the look to the sky with your arms in the air and eyes closed aesthetic that quite pleased me. Compared to the dead end techno trash they're making now, this song will always have a space in my heart.
Foundation project based on audio-visual synching. The idea was to blur the line between the two senses - sight and sound. Influenced by addictive tv, michel gondry...
